It’s getting real! We closed today on the sale of our home that we have lived in for 15 years. Jeremy was in 1st grade and Marissa in preschool when we bought it, so they grew up in this house on Kershaw Court in Monument, CO. We talked to both of them about how they’d feel if we sold it and neither were too bothered. They are both enjoying their independence and are not planning to come back to live with us, so the house seemed too large for just Randy and me.

Plus it’s definitely a seller’s market right now. We had several contracts on it the first week, while Randy and I were vacationing in Breckenridge. Then we got a cash offer, 50K over asking, that we accepted the following week. There were several things we needed to fix, but it was mostly a pain and stress free experience. It’s been a great house, without too many maintenance issues and with good neighbors and schools, so it has served us well.

For the past few months, we’ve been selling most of our furniture and decor, keeping only what could fit in the 2 bedroom apartment (one BR used as an office) and a 10×10 storage unit. Most of our furniture is at least 20 years old, so we are excited to one day furnish and decorate a new home with updated stuff! The apartment is a bit closer to the sheriff’s office, so Randy won’t have to commute as far to volunteer; but it’s also still close enough to Monument for us to continue attending The Ascent Church.

We signed a 14 month lease so our full-time RV’ing will start June 2022, if things go according to the plan. We will use that time to sell and sort through our remaining stuff; along with finding and buying the fifth wheel and a truck to pull it. I’m glad we decided to transition to the apartment instead of going straight into the fifth wheel. I think it will make the adjustment a bit easier, both by having the extra time and for getting used to a smaller space. (The house is 5200 sq ft, the apartment is 1800 sq ft, and the fifth wheel will probably be about 300 sq ft — yikes!)
