We decided to go ahead and get a truck so that if we found the fifth wheel we wanted, we could jump on it. Both trucks and RVs are in high demand these days. After test driving various types of Ford, Ram and Chevy trucks, Randy ended up liking Fords the most. He went into it thinking we’d buy a Ram, so he was surprised at that outcome. And we had done enough research on fifth wheels to know that a diesel, short bed, single wheel (instead of the dually) could pull anything we would get. We really didn’t want to have to deal with driving and parking a dually or long bed truck.

We could have gotten a new F350 built-to-order for the same price as a used one, but it would not have been ready before the Christmas holidays. So, we just kept our eyes open for something we liked that had the tow/haul features. We weren’t actually looking for anything as nice as what we ended up with, but we loved the Silver Spruce color and the lighter interior, so we splurged on this 2019 Limited F350 from Phil Long Ford. Since we’ll be spending so much time in the truck, I’m guessing we’ll enjoy all the bells and whistles enough to make it worth the extra cost. As I seem to be saying a lot these days — “It’s only money!”
