We’ve been searching RV Trader for a few months, trying to find one of the fifth wheels that we like nearby. The closest one was six hours away, so we decided to look at new ones on dealership lots. Cousins RV had just sold one that we were interested in and didn’t have others in stock. But they found out the manufacturer had one being built that wasn’t tagged for a particular dealer yet. So, we put a deposit on it and after a few months of waiting, it has finally arrived! We only found a few small issues during the walk-through, so we signed the papers and will be towing it home in a few days.
I’ve been a bit nervous about towing something so large for the first time, thinking we won’t know what we don’t know and may make a costly mistake. When telling a friend about my concerns, she offered to take us out and give us some pointers using her horse trailer. That was super nice and definitely boosted our knowledge and confidence a bit. Thanks, Susie!
I think we’re going to have plenty of storage and be very comfortable living in the fifth wheel. It really does feel like a small apartment. I love the kitchen island and the large pantry and clothes closet (at least large according to RV standards). We are planning to replace the middle sofa with a desk so Randy can use that room as an office. But we’ll still have the sofa bed in the living room for Jeremy and/or Marissa to come visit us occasionally (or anyone else who is game!)
I don’t feel like I need to do too much decorating, since there’s not much wall space and it looks pretty already. But Marissa did say she would help design a couple of decals to add a personal touch, so that’ll be nice. Here are some of the quotes that I like: ‘Making memories one adventure at a time’, ‘Life is a Journey, not a Destination’, ‘Enjoy the Journey’, ‘Escape the Ordinary’, ‘Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away’, ‘Not all who wander are lost’, ‘Attitude: The difference between an ordeal and adventure!’, ‘Life rocks when your home rolls’, ‘Today is our Someday’. Can you tell that I’m looking forward to the adventure?!?
