I really liked this park. It felt pretty secluded, with lots of mature trees, but was still convenient to restaurants and grocery stores. They even had a laundry mat here, which we took advantage of.

It was fun to hang out with Jeremy for a few more days before he left for Ireland. We rented a two person kayak and a paddle board for an hour one day and took turns playing around on them. Then we found a spot on a beach to relax, eat a picnic lunch and enjoy the nice weather (in the shade!)

My sisters, Becky & Robin, came over for dinner one evening, which was nice. Randy even built us a fire so we could roast marshmallows! Unfortunately, the mosquitoes were pretty bad at the campsite and seemed to like Randy and Jeremy the most. Jeremy said his past genetic testing shows he has the gene that makes him more appetizing to mosquitoes. I’m guessing Randy has it too, since he seemed to be a mosquito magnet! Our new Thermacell Mosquito Repellent seemed to do a decent job of repelling them while we were sitting outside. But Randy said he was pretty miserable swatting them away during a bike ride one evening.

Since our truck didn’t get fixed before we needed to leave, we had to ask a friend to tow us back to Monument. A huge thanks to Ben for driving an hour each way to help us out!! And to the Schott’s for letting us park the trailer at their place!! I had to cancel a few nights of our next reservation, but we’re hoping to get the truck back in time to still spend a couple of nights there.
