While staying at the Pa-Co-Chu-Puk Campground in Ridgway State Park, we made day trips to Telluride, Silverton and Ouray. We had never visited those places and wanted to see them before heading out of CO for a while, but didn’t think it’d be such a great idea to try to tow the long fifth wheel over the Million Dollar Highway or into Telluride. We spent a lot of time in the truck, driving back and forth, but it was worth it!
We also walked around the town of Ridgway a bit, stopping at their railroad museum and grocery store. And one night, we went to the park’s Birds of Prey show at their Visitors Center. It was really interesting, even though we’d seen similar shows before. One new thing I learned was that the bird sound you hear in movies when they pan up into the sky and show an eagle, is really the sound a hawk makes. Evidently, the eagle doesn’t sound as cool! Who knew?!
