We got off the coast and drove inland a bit to camp at Suwannee River State Park. This was the first campground that we had trouble fitting into the site. It was an older campground with smaller sites and lots of trees. We tried backing in from both directions and at various angles, but by the time the trailer would get to the point that it was turning enough, the truck was out of room to follow it back, with trees in the way along the edge of the road. Fortunately, there was an employee who saw us and looked at their records to see there was another site on the edge of the campground that was available. While we backed up into the treed area, the other edge of the road was completely clear, so we had plenty of turning room. Whew!

I learned the lesson to only book sites that claim they will fit a rig over 50ft (that site was supposed to fit up to 50ft); that way we will have plenty of room to easily maneuver our 42ft!

There wasn’t much to do or see in Live Oak, the town near the park, so we were able to just relax at the RV instead of doing much sight-seeing. We enjoyed several of the park’s hikes, especially the one along the river. The trees and plants along the trails were pretty cool; one area felt like we were in Jurassic Park. Unfortunately, the rock that was supposed to be balanced on the Balanced Rock trail has now toppled over. Might be time for them to rename that trail! My least favorite part of all the hikes was about a mile of a sandy, rutted service road. The sand was soft, so I walked in a packed tire track, which was narrow, so I had to put one foot in front of another instead of walking normal. If we had known almost half the trail was in that condition, we would have just turned around half-way instead of doing the loop. Oh well!

One evening, we drove around town a bit, went to Walmart, filled up with diesel, ate at Big Wood BBQ and Grill (which was really good!), then went grocery shopping. Big night on the town!!
