From St. Charles, MO, we flew to Miami and spent a couple of nights in an Airbnb until it was time to board the Celebrity Silhouette for our cruise to the Caribbean Islands. On our full day in Miami, we walked to a trolley stop then rode the free trolley around town most of the day. We walked around the Bayside Marketplace and Wynwood areas, and just stayed on the trolley to ride through Little Havana.

The next morning, we called for a Lyft to take us to the Port of Miami. And before long, we were on board, soaking up some sun and enjoying a burger and ice cream cone!

Day 3, Wed, Mar 1 – Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. We did a shore excursion called “Damajagua’s Waterfall Adventure” where we hiked to an area that had a bunch of waterfalls, then jumped off a couple and slid down a couple. It was a fun experience and only a little scary jumpy off the 16 ft one. When we got back to the port, we walked around the nearby town before getting back on the ship.

Day 4, Thurs, Mar 2 – San Juan, Puerto Rico. We were planning to just walk around on our own, but decided to join a tour company that drove us around and let us off in a handful of places to take pics.

Day 5, Fri, Mar 3 – St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. We walked to a nearby beach and spent a few hours enjoying the warm weather.

Day 6, Sat, Mar 4 – St. Johns, Antigua and Barbuda. We did a shore excursion that took us to a few tourist spots. One of the stops was just at a local couple’s home. They had an overwhelming amount of stuff displayed all around their house for us to look at. We also stopped at a pineapple farm, which was much more interesting, thanks to the owner/farmer telling us about the process of growing the pineapples.

Day 7, Sun, Mar 5 – Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis. We did another bus tour around the island, but at this point, it started to seem like all the other islands. Plus we ended up in the back of a van with no loud speaker, so it was hard to hear what the driver was saying. Pretty scenery, though.

Day 8, Mon, Mar 6 – Philipsburg, St. Maarten. The water and sand here were amazing! We took a taxi to a beach that was under the flight path of an airport. As jets take off, you can stand behind them and get blasted. Kind of funny once or twice, but I prefer quieter, calmer beaches!

Of course, one of the main attractions of cruising is the food, and Celebrity did not disappoint! When Randy and I couldn’t decide on just one appetizer, entree or dessert at dinner, we’d choose multiple and create our own sampler platters. Lots of tasty meals were served, including all-you-can-eat buffets during breakfasts and lunches. So much food!
The entertainment in the main theater was pretty good, too. There were a couple of acts I could have done without, but most of them were very entertaining! There was magic, comedy, improv, sax playing, singing, and acrobats.

The Activities team did an awesome job of hosting fun games all throughout the cruise; and Randy participated in most of them! We especially enjoyed when Nathan hosted. He was from Texas and was super funny, along with his alternate personality, Carlos! (In the Yes, No Game videos below, Randy was not supposed to say any form of “yes” or “no” for three minutes of talking to the host.)

To sum it up, we had a great time on the cruise! Randy and I both thought 10 days was much nicer than just 7, but we wished there had been at least one sea day to break up the port days. But we highly recommend cruising and are looking forward to our next one someday!
