It was Jeremy’s turn to plan the next couple of days, which worked out well, since he wanted to meet up with a friend he knew from online gaming but had never met in person. We took a taxi to the airport in order to rent a car for the day, since public transportation couldn’t get us where we wanted to go. Our first stop was quick, at a beach in Cecina, killing time before our Wine Tasting tour.

We did a guided tour at the Tenuta Di Vaira Vinyard then tasted their wines. Jeremy and Randy had favorites but none of them made fans of Marissa or me. Oh well. I still enjoyed learning about their process of making the wine.

We stopped at a super cute restaurant in Castagneto Carducci called Il Covo Del Gallo and ordered meat, cheese and bread Charcuterie Boards for lunch. Then we drove to the small town and met Jeremy’s friend, Tilde, and her aunt. She showed us around and took us to a friend’s bakery, who gave us some free samples. Yum! They also led us to a local beach where we hung out for about 30 minutes. Then we drove 1.5 hours to Florence, to drop the car off.

We were told that we needed to drop the car off by 8pm in Florence in order to avoid a late fee. So we went straight to the garage instead of dropping off luggage at the hotel, since it was 7:45pm. But when we dropped off, the guy told us the deadline was really 7pm and didn’t care they told us the wrong time at pick-up. Boo! At least it was only about a 10 minute walk to the Hotel Rex, so it wasn’t too bad.
