We made one last stop before going home — to visit with Marissa & Austin! We stayed two nights at 370 Lakeside Park, but were hardly at the campground except to sleep. Before going to dinner, we went by R&R Enterprises, where Marissa works and got a tour of the t-shirt printing equipment. Marissa started the tour by talking about the graphics software that she uses and showing us where the screens are created and stored, then taking us to where the large printing equipment was. Luckily, that’s where we ran into the company owner who took over the tour and answered a bunch of our questions, since Marissa wasn’t as familiar with that part of the process. He was VERY complimentary of Marissa and kept bragging on the great work that she does there! We were too engaged in the moment to remember to take any pics inside, but I did think to snap one as we were leaving, ha.
After the tour, we met Austin at the nearby Corner Pub & Grill for dinner. They have some fun, unique dishes that made it hard to decide what to get, but I ended up ordering the “It’s Always Sunny in” (A pizza with Alfredo sauce, thinly sliced ribeye, green bell pepper, onion, mozzarella & parmesan blend). Yum!
The next day, we had lunch with Marissa at the Bike Stop Cafe in St. Charles, Then Austin met us at Escape on Main, where we had a blast completing the Saloon Heist Room with about 15 minutes to spare — We found the hidden gold bars before the sheriff came to lock us up! Then we wandered up and down main street a bit and popped into the Soda Museum to see the large collection of all things soda. Some of the items went back to the late 1800s, but there was a good bit that brought back childhood memories for me and Randy. (I don’t think soda bottles or machines have changed much in Austin & Marissa’s lifetime, yet, but they humored us and seemed interested enough when we pointed out things we remembered.)
Instead of eating out again for dinner, we went back to the RV to grab stuff I had to make Quesadillas, gave the 1 minute tour of the RV then went to Marissa’s house for the evening. We did a Finders Seekers game, ate dinner, and called it a night.
The next morning, we met Austin & Marissa at The Crossings Church, where we enjoyed worshipping while Marissa helped lead with the team on stage. Our plan was to eat at The Shack after church, but we didn’t want to wait over an hour to get a table, so we ended up at Drake’s instead. In hindsight, we should have probably chosen some place quicker, since we were late checking out of the RV park and got a phone call from them on our way back — oops!
Well, our trip is pretty much over. I’m amazed at how well everything worked out according to plan, with only a few adjustments to small things needed along the way. I’m so thankful for God’s protection and provision these past couple of months and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many new sights, meeting new people, and catching up with old friends along the way!
