We stayed three nights at Cumberland Mountain State Park, to give us a day to enjoy the park and a day to go out looking at homes. At the park, we hiked a little over 2 miles on the Byrd Lake and Pioneer Short Loop trails. It was super pretty, peaceful and very enjoyable!

On the second full day here, we rode around with BJ Brown to look at homes:
- 615 Summerwind Dr, Crossville, TN 38571 – This ended up being our top pick of the day. The house was nice and checked all the boxes, except perhaps that the garage felt a little small. The lot was private enough and the owner had an option to buy several other lots to the left of it, in order to keep that privacy. But for some reason, neither Randy nor I actually got excited enough about potentially living in this home, even though it was good.
395 Garrett Rd, Crossville, TN 38571– This one was eliminated before we ever got to the house; the road to it was narrow, washed out in one place and had a steep hill. The lot itself had the privacy and pond that Randy is looking for, though. The Barndominium style home was interesting but not very appealing to us.- 1515 E Overlook Rd, Monterey, TN 38574 – This was a nice, open floor-plan home in Cumberland Cove, even if the exterior was underwhelming. It ended up being ranked 2nd of the day.
1433 Belmont Cir, Monterey, TN 38574– Nope. Nice enough lot, but bad floor plan.2403 Crest Rd, Monterey, TN 38574– Nope. Weird floor plan, including garage redone as a den. Too many extra out-buildings, too, which made the yard seem junky.
