If you ever find yourself near Cincinnati, Ohio, plan to spend a couple of extra days just south of there to see the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. It’s well worth the time! We stayed 4 nights at the Oak Creek Campground, which was pretty much right in the middle of the two museums, so it took us about 20 minutes to get to each. It wasn’t really a great campground for big rigs, though; we barely made it through a couple of tight turns to get through the dump station. Unfortunately, there weren’t other convenient options in the area to choose from. It served its purpose.

There was enough to see and do for us to spend a full day at each museum. We got to each in time to see the first presentation/video and finished not much before closing times.

I think there was more content to read and concentrate on at the Creation Museum, as it took us through the 7 C’s: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, Consummation. It started off pretty crowded, so we had to jostle for position to see some of the signs. But the crowds thinned out as it got later and people went through the exhibits at different speeds. We took at break from the displays to listen to a couple of the presentations and we did the 4-D and planetarium shows, so we probably took longer than most. It was all very impressive and well presented. I have a better understanding of how the earth’s formations can be explained by Creationism instead of the way all the National Park signs try to explain it by millions of years. Fascinating stuff!! I won’t get into it here, though — go see for yourself! 🙂

While there was still plenty of stuff to read about at the Ark Encounter, there was also just a lot I looked at without feeling the need to read. For example, I didn’t bother reading all the facts about the animals in the cages. Plus, I found the ark’s signage harder to read, with smaller print and not as good of lighting. I especially liked learning about the possible lifestyle on board, with clever ways of taking care of the animals and how they could have stored and cooked all their food. It definitely helps make the Noah and the Ark Bible story more real!

One thought that stuck with me was how scientists believe there was a major flood on Mars (a planet that no longer has any water on it!) that caused of the formations they’ve noticed on the surface. But they insist it took millions of years to form something like the Grand Canyon instead of admitting it could have been caused by a flood, because they don’t want to admit the Bible is true! If the flood had not been in the Bible, they would probably would say it was the most logical explanation.

I’m glad the schedule worked out for us to see True Song in concert while at the Ark Encounter. I had never heard of them before, but they were amazing! I loved all the songs they sang, with fabulous four part harmonies. Evidentally, they travel between they do concerts at both museums several times a week, so chances are good you can catch their show at least once while visiting.
