We stayed two nights in Gulf Shores, AL, at the campground in Gulf State Park. This is a huge campground, with almost 500 sites. We were in site 456, which was over a mile past the park entrance.

We enjoyed visiting First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores Sunday Morning, attending their contemporary service. Afterwards, we walked out to the end of the Gulf State Park Pier then went out to eat at Bahama Bob’s. It would have been nice to sit on the beach for a while, but the temperature was low 60s.

Back at the campground, we walked along a boardwalk to get a nice view of Shelby Lake. Then we spent some time cleaning and maintaining our bikes. We rode them around the campground a bit, and found the section with campsites that had great views of Middle Lake. We didn’t stay out long, though, since it was starting to get dark and colder. (I’m sad that it’s getting dark so early, now!)

June and I were there decades ago when it was new. An extraordinary facility and setting.
