We took the Leonardo Express train to the airport and then flew to Prague. I had arranged a transfer to our lodging at 7 Tales Apartments, so there was a guy holding up “Meadows” on an iPad who drove us to our apartment in Old Town Prague. Nice! The apartment location was super convenient to pop in and out between sight seeing locations during the day, being only a couple of blocks from Old Town Square. We took the driver up on a recommendation and ate dinner at Restaurace Mincovna, ordering traditional Czech food. It was definitely a bit different, but tasted good. Randy thought to take photos of our plates after we were almost done eating, ha.

The Astronomical Clock is pretty fascinating (and hugely popular!) Its hands and dials show a lot of information at a glance, and I’m impressed with the person who invented it! We stood around with the large crowd this first night and watched the little show that occurs each hour, as seen in the video, but I would not say that is the highlight of this clock.

When we walked into our apartment we were hit with the delicious smell of cinnamon baking. Turns out the back door of Trdlokafe, a Chimney Cakes place, was in the hallway of our apartment complex entrance, so its smells constantly wafted in. Way too tempting to resist for long! So after walking around Old Town a bit, we headed back to indulge in the sweet treat!

Then we walked off all those calories (or at least some of them) along the River Walk. We heard live music playing and glanced down over the wall to see a bunch of people sitting around on the river bank, eating, drinking and enjoying the music. We enjoyed it for a few minutes then kept walking. We noticed the large boats moored and figured out they were restaurants and “Botels” (cute name for them!). We ended up at the “Dancing House“, a uniquely architected building that easily attracts attention.

We got a kick out the what Jeremy called “The Minions” working on the street car rails. They’d all sit down on their little seats in a line and work for a few minutes, then all get up, taking their tools and seats with them, moving out of the way for a streetcar to go through; then they’d go back to sit down and work again. I’m guessing you had to be there, but it struck us all as kind of funny looking.

I knew we’d be crossing the Charles Bridge to/from the Prague Castle, but we decided to spend some time here tonight, too. I’m glad we did, since this first night ended up being the best weather we had while we were in Prague. It was a pleasant temperature to be walking around, without rain!
