Day 24: Petrín Hill, Prague Castle Complex (Prague)

Well, today is our last day of sight seeing. We started with breakfast at the Fat Cat, just across the street from the apartment. Thankfully, the rain mostly held off while we walked up Petrín Hill, with just a minute or two of drizzling. There were some steep inclines and Read more…

Day 22: Astronomical Clock, Old Town Square, Dancing House, Charles Bridge (Prague)

We took the Leonardo Express train to the airport and then flew to Prague. I had arranged a transfer to our lodging at 7 Tales Apartments, so there was a guy holding up “Meadows” on an iPad who drove us to our apartment in Old Town Prague. Nice! The apartment Read more…

Day 21: St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel (Rome, Italy)

We did an audio tour of St. Peter’s Basilica and paid extra to go up into the dome, since it was highly recommended on Trip Advisor reviews. The Basilica was humongous! Since 2025 is a Year of Jubilee, they had the Holy Doors open. I would’ve thought that would have Read more…

Day 20: Colosseum, Roman Forum, Aventine Hill, Trastevere (Rome, Italy)

We did a guided tour for the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Our group’s original guide couldn’t make it for some reason, so we had a substitute named Paolo. He was a professor and an archeologist and was very enthusiastic to share all he knew about the sites! He was super Read more…

Day 17: Venice, Italy

Randy escorted Marissa to the metro station about 10 minutes away so she could get to the airport for her flight back to MO. Then, Randy, Jeremy and I checked out and walked to the train station for our trip to Venice. We checked into Hotel Il Moro di Venezia Read more…

Day 14: Botanical Garden (Pisa, Italy) & Lucca, Italy

After breakfast at the hotel, we walked 10 minutes to Pisa’s Botanical Garden. I must say, they had some pretty interesting looking plants. Randy introduced Jeremy to an app he used to identify plants, so Jeremy was working hard to get new badges and increase his rank by taking lots Read more…

Day 13: Leaning Tower, Baptistry, Cathedral, Camposanto, Museum of Sinopias, Giardino Scotto Park, Pasta Class (Pisa, Italy)

Our first stop in Italy was Pisa and of course, you can’t visit Pisa without climbing to the top of its Leaning Tower! After putting our bags in the free lockers a short distance away we lined up for our timed-entry. It wasn’t as tiring as I thought it would Read more…

Day 11: Trinity College Old Library / Book of Kells, Guinness Storehouse (Ireland)

Our hotel was just a few minutes walk to Trinity College, which was nice. I really enjoyed the tour of the Old Library and the Book of Kells Experience. They are in the process of making the library more fire resistant and had cleared out most of the books. They Read more…

Day 9: Waterford Crystal Factory, King of the Vikings VR (Ireland)

I really enjoyed doing the Waterford Crystal Factory Tour. I like seeing how things are made. They require at least five years of training to be skilled enough to work in the factory, as each piece has to be EXTREMELY precise. The videos show the various stages each piece goes Read more…

Day 8: Blarney Castle, Rock of Cashel, Hore Abbey (Ireland)

We got a later start than planned and with an hour drive, we arrived at Blarney Castle after 10am. So, lots of tour buses had already dropped off LOTS of people! In hindsight, we should have walked around the gardens first and waited for the castle line to go down, Read more…
